We are going to look at a website that offers free books.  There are two different types of books.  Audio books and regular books.  The books are downloaded and can then be read.  These are books that have been in print long enough that there is no copyright law.

Here is how to find an author.

  1. In the search author box type the name of an author.

  2. Click Go.

  3. Here is a listing of the available books by Jack London.

  4. There are two picture next to the titles of the books.

    1.   This represents a book.

    2.   This represents an audio book.

  5. Here is how to download a book.

    1. Click on the title you wish to read.  Make sure it has a next to it.

    2. There is quite a bit of useless information when you first find the book.

    3. Scroll down to the more useful information.  It looks like this.

    4. The important columns to look at are Format, Compression, and Download Links.

    5. We want a row that says,  --- Plain Text --- None Compressions --- Main Site.

    6. Click Main Site.

    7. The book should then come up.

    8. You may notice that the text is kind of small.  We can fix that.

    9. On Internet Explorer Click View.

    10. Click Text Size.

    11. Click Largest.

  6. Here is how to download an audio book.

    1. Click on the link of the audio you want to listen to.  Make sure it has a speaker next to it.

    2. The first thing you should do when trying to download an audio book is make sure it is not computer generated.  If is computer generated the category will look like this.

    3. If you get a computer generated book click the back button and find a different book.

    4. This is the category we want.

    5. Here is the kind of format we are looking for.

    6. Any MP3 audio will work fine.

    7. Right Click Main Site.

    8. Click Save Target As.

    9. Click My Documents.

    10. Put your book in the My Music Folder.

    11. Click Save.
