Starting Programs at the Run Line

This lesson is about starting programs without icons.

  1. Click Start. 

  2. Click Run. 

  3. The Run Window pops up. 

  4. We can type many different things in the run window to run programs in the computer.  Here is a list.

    iexplorer Internet Explorer
    wmplayer Windows Media Player
    sol Solitaire
    calc Calculator
    explorer Windows Explorer (for finding files)
    magnify A screen magnifier
    mshearts A game of Hearts
    mspaint A drawing program
    notepad A program for writing notes
    dfrg.msc Disk Defragmenter - an easy program to run that should help the computer run better.
  5. After you type things into your run window the computer will remember them for next time.
