Safe Mode

• Safe Mode is process to start the computer when it may not be running so well.  When we get to safe mode we can make repairs on the computer.

• Example:  We installed a program and it is not running so well.  We installed a printer and it is not booting up.  Our computer crashed and we want to fix it.

1. Start with the computer turned off.

2. Turn the computer on.

3. At the same time start pressing the F8 key.  That is located at the top of the keyboard.  Press the F8 key every second for about a minute.  At this time it should start going to safe mode.

4. You will be asked what mode you want to start in.

5. Use your arrow keys to move up to the option "Start Mode." (Your mouse won't work)

6. Press Enter.

7. You have to press Enter a second time.

8. Now you will be asked for a password.

9. Click Ok and the computer will now start in safe mode.

10. Usually if your computer starts in safe mode your problems are fixable.

Question:  How do you get out of safe mode?

Answer:  Restart the computer.
