An in depth way to look at your Start Up List
Every time your computer starts it has a long list of programs it has to start. We can look at this list and then take a few things out of the list. Taking things out of the list will make the computer run a little bit quicker.
*Be careful when disabling your computer. You may do more damage than good. If you aren't sure then don't disable.
Click Start.
Click Run.
Type msconfig and then click ok.

There are three startups that you can choose from.

Normal Startup - The slowest of the three. Everything is running at startup.
Diagnostic Startup - Ultra fast. No extra programs are running. If the computer runs well under diagnostic it might mean that something in your startup list isn't running so well.
Selective Startup - We can choose not to run things for start up. The rest of the lesson will be to work on the selective startup.
Click the Startup Tab at the top. We don't want to change
the other tabs. They are mostly necessary.

On the Start Up tab we want to look for things that may not be necessary like Google Updater, ITunes, Hewlet Packard items. When you find one you don't like click the check mark so it goes away. Here is what I found.

Click Apply when you have unchecked what you want to.
Click Restart to restart the computer.

When you restart the computer you will see this message.

Click the checkmark and then click OK.
If you run into problems with the computer after this. Go back to MSCONFIG and click Normal Startup. This will return you to normal.
