Moving Files and Finding Files
Especially Picture Files
These notes are searching for pictures when you aren't sure where they went. For example you scan a picture and the computer decides to put the picture wherever it wants.

Next, you are asked for what you want to search for.

Click on the box next to pictures and photos.

The next option is to put in the filename. If you are
anything like me; you have no idea what the filename is. If you knew
what the filename was you probably wouldn't help finding it.

Click Advanced Search Options.

We are given more options to help us search.

"When was it modified?" means what date was the file created.
Click "When was it modified."
Set the time period you want to search.

Click Search to search.
Now onto the next major questions. After you search and find what you are looking for, how do you remember where it is.
Your files could be listed in a variety of different ways. I will tell you about each one.
The place you go to for seeing how they are listed is the
view button.
Thumbnails is the first one. In the thumbnails view
you are given a small sliver of a preview of the picture. It is good
if you quickly want to view your pictures.
Next is Tiles. In tiles view all the pictures look
alike with the same tiles.

The next is Icons. Icons are nice because you can see
the file name and more of the files.

The last and most important for this lesson is Details.

When we click on details we see the details of where the
file is located. Here is the example of one file.

Now, how do you translate all this information into something useful. The first half probably doesn't make much sense. When we get to "My Documents or My Pictures" hopefully that rings a bell. That means if you click My Documents or My Pictures on your computer you will see the files.
