Moving Files and Folders
Creating Folders

Here is a little information on how your computer is organized.    Your computer is made up similar to a filing cabinet.  The main folder is called the C: folder.  It is basically a drawer to a filing cabinet.  It is actually called a Hard Drive that stores all your files.    The most important to remember is that it is called the C: Drive.  There are other drives on your computer.  The next drive is called the D: Drive.  It is usually the CD player in your computer.    There are several more letters that could be assigned to your computer.  If you have a memory card reader that will take several letters as drives like E: F:  G:  H:.

Here is the basic layout of your computer.

  1. Click Start.

  2. Click My Computer.

  3. Right Click Local Disk (C:).

  4. Click Properties.

  5. A Pie Chart will show up.

  6. Double Click Local Disk C:

  7. The only read folder we need to be worried about is the Documents and Settings Folder.

  8. This will now show us all the users that have used the computer.

  9. Click one of the users to look at more information.  When you click them you will see a couple more folders.

  10. They are:

My Documents - These are the files located in My Documents

Favorites - These are your Internet Favorites for Internet Explorer.  Sometimes they are called Internet Bookmarks.
