Microsoft Word Standard Toolbar

Clicking this will give you a New Blank Document.

Clicking this will let you open files.

Clicking this will let you save files.

Clicking this will bring up a e-mail options.  We don't use this option because most computers are not setup to use it.

  This button lets you print.

This is the Print Preview button.  It shows you what your printout will probably look like.  You have to click the word close to exit Print Preview.

This is to check the spelling and grammar in your document.  When something is underlined red it is a spelling mistake.  When something is underlined green it is a grammar mistake.

Here are the options that come up when the computer finds a spelling mistake.  The computer may not know you last name.  If your last name comes up as a spelling mistake "Add to Dictionary" will make your computer know your name.

When you highlight something.  Click cut and the word will disappear.

After you cut something you can paste it.

I don't use Format Painter.  It's uses are very limited.

This will undo something you have done.

If you undo something too much you can click redo.

This is for website design.  Not useful to most people.

This button brings in the toolbar for Tables and Borders.

After you click a bunch of boxes will appear.  This lets you decide how many boxes you want in your table.

This is to determine if you want newspaper columns or not.  When this pops up you can choose 1 to 4 columns.

This button makes the Drawing Toolbar hide or show itself.

The document map is only useful if you are typing dozens of pages.

This is the paragraph symbol.  Most people work with the symbol off.  It basically shows you where pressed the spacebar or where you pressed enter.

This lets you zoom in or out from the document.

The last button for most of us is the help button.
