Introduction to E-Mail

E-mail is an easy to communicate electronically through the Internet.  You can get free e-mail address from several places.  Almost everyone in our class uses Yahoo.  This lesson is for people who use Yahoo mail.

  1. Click start.

  2. Click Internet Explorer. 

  3. Type www.yahoo.com in the address bar. 

  4. Click on mail in the top right bar. 

  5. Click sign in. 

  6. Type in your Yahoo ID and password.  Click sign in.

First we will cover composing mail.

  1. Click compose to begin writing an e-mail. 

  2. The first thing to do is type in the e-mail address of who the e-mail is going to. 

  3. Type in the subject of the e-mail.  The subject needs to relate to what you are sending.  Don't make it seem like junk e-mail. 

  4. Click on the down arrow a little and begin typing your message. 

  5. There are a couple tweaks you might want to use before sending the mail.  Here they are.  They are quite handy.

  6. Look at the toolbar.  They are all little helpers to spruce up your e-mail. 

  7. The first tool is spell check and is probably the best one to use.  Click on the tool. 

  8. Your spelling in the e-mail will be checked.

  9. When you click spell check if you have any misspelled words Yahoo will prompt for the correct spelling.  Select the correct word. 

  10. Click change after the correct word is highlighted. 

  11. When you are done typing the message click send.

  12. Click send.
