Using a Scanner

A scanner is used to scan pictures and documents.  You can then place them in the computer where you can save them.  Scanners can be very simple to use.  These directions are only useful if you are using Windows XP.

  1. Click Start

  2. Click Programs

  3. Click Accessories

  4. Click Scanner and Camera Wizard

  5. Click Next

  6. Click Preview

  7. Move the dotted box around your picture.

  8. Click OK

  9. Click Next

  10. Look towards the top and type in a file name.  Make the file name something connected to the picture.

  11. Click Next

How to work with the files after you scan them.

  1. If you scanned correctly your pictures should be in "My Documents" or "My Pictures."

  2. Here is how you find your pictures.

  3. Click the Start Button. 

  4. Look for "My Documents" and click it. 

  5. Look for a folder named "My Pictures."  Double click it.

  6. When My Pictures opens up we want to be able to view the pictures easily.

  7. Click View. 

  8. Click Thumbnails

  9. Now you will be able to see individual thumbnails of each picture.

 

 

Making a Gift CD using Picasa

  1. Start up Picasa

  2. Click at the top where it says "Gift CD"

  3. Give the CD a name where it asks for a name towards the bottom.

  4. On the left click on "Add more" until you add all the pictures that you want.

  5. There are checkmarks on the folders on the left.

  6. Place a checkmark next to each folder you want in the gift CD.

  7. Click Burn Disc.

  8. When this is done you are done.
