Appending Materials
For this to work you have to have a materials library on your
desktop. Ask the teacher for the materials CD if you don't have the
library. The library is a blender file named "material library." The
icon looks like this.
Open up the file you are working on. For this example
I will be working on a pawn.
Click File.
Click Append or Link.

Click the two triangles.

Click the Desktop option when it pops up.

Click once on the materials library file.

Click on the word materials.

Click once on the material that you want to use.* (click the asterisk for how to select multiple materials.)
Click Load Library.

Nothing appears to have changed. We need to apply the material to the pawn.
Go into object mode.
Select the pawn only.
Press F5 or click the shading button.

Click Add New.

Click on the 2 tiny triangles next to material.001.

Click on the material that you want. I selected
jedi_slime.
Press F12 to take a picture of the new pawn. (You might have to adjust the light and camera to get a better view.
Here is my Jedi Slime Pawn.
