First we need to get some files to append.
Click Start.
Click Run.
Type "\\yv-fileserver\LH\blender"
If you are asked for a username and password type it in.
username: alvord\yv_student
password: student
Create a folder on your computer's desktop.
On your desktop right click.
Place your mouse over new.

Click Folder.

Drag all the blender files into your new folder.
Next you are going to color a Volkswagon Beetle. It appears that somebody created the Beetle in Blender but didn't finish coloring it. In this assigning colors to the car. The colors have been created for you. All you have to do is assign the colors.
Locate the file "need color VW-new-beetle."

Double click the file.
Press Shift P for a preview.

You are going to finish coloring it.
Right click different parts of the Beetle.
Assign the different parts colors by doing the following.
In the Links and Pipeline window click on the two
triangles next to the word Add New.

Out of the possible selections click the right one.

Notify the teacher when the car is completed.

So how do we change colors if we want to.
Click on the triangles next to the material name.

Select the material that you want to change.
Click on the yellow color box.

Find the color you want and then click it.

Using Paint.NET place a picture on the car.

Notify your teacher when this is done.
Appending files like toilets and sinks.
Find the Blender Icon.
Double Click the Blender Icon.

Press Shift F1 to begin appending.
Click on the double arrows to find your files.

Navigate to your folder with all the Blender files.
Click the file you want append.

You are brought to a set of folders to append from.
Here is what some of them are.
Material - The color in the file.
Mesh - Any vertices, edges, and faces.
Object - Usually something major like a door, window, or something big.
Texture - Part of materials.
Today we are only going to append objects.
Click on Object.
I'm appending an office chair so my objects look like this.

Right click all the parts of the object you want to append.
They turn purple when you append.

On the bottom click Active Layer. Don't
forget this step.

Click Load Library.

The file should now show up in your Blender Project.
Append and create a sceen using several of the files you have been provided with.
