- Start Blender.
- Click the Hand to turn Widget Mode off.

- Press NUM 1 to go into front view.
- Click View.
- Click Background Image.

- Click the folder next to the word image.

- Click the up and down triangle under the P.

- Click C:.
- Click Documents and Settings
- Click Room49.
- Click My Documents.
- Click the file name of your picture.
- Click Select Image.

- Your picture should show up in Blender.
- This is your Blender Image Tool Window.
You can increase the size of the
image by click the 2 triangles next to size.
- You can make the image more or less transparent by clicking to the left
or right on the Blend Bar. I like to make my Blend Bar about .8.

- To start out Press SpaceBar > Add > Mesh > Circle.

- Set your vertices to 3 and click Ok.

- You will get a triangle.

- Right Click on 1 vertex. It will become yellow while the other 2
vertices become pink.
- Press the X KEY. Click Vertices.

- You now have a line with 2 vertices. Right click one of the
vertices.
- Press the G KEY. Use your mouse to move the vertex over to
whatever you are tracing. You should notice that I have one vertex on
the black line.

- Right click the other vertex. Use your mouse and move it onto what
you are tracing.

- We now need more vertices. Hold the Ctrl key down and click on
what you are tracing. This will you give you more vertices.
- Complete tracing whatever you are tracing.

- Zoom in a little bit more so you can see the vertex you started with and
the vertex you ended with.

- You should notice they are not together. This is a major problem.
We need to fix it.
- Press the B KEY twice to get the circle selecting tool. Click on
both vertices. They should both turn yellow.
- Right click to exit circle selecting.
- Press Alt M.
- Click At Center.

- Press the A KEY twice to select all your vertices. They should all
be yellow if you did it right.
- Right now we have a polygon. We need to give the polygon a face.
Press Shift F. After doing that your face will look something like
this.

- We are done with Edit Mode. Click on the 2 triangle by the word
Edit Mode and enter Object Mode.

- Press the Z KEY to make hide the face you just created. We need to
hide it so we can pick the color of what we traced.
- Now we need to get the right color. Click on the Shading Button.

- Click Add New.

- Click inside of this box and give the material a name. I named
mine hair because that is what I am coloring.

- Click on the gray box next to Col.

- A color selection window will appear. Click Sample from the new
window.

- Now you are ready to trace the next part of your creation. Go back
to step 17 and repeat until everything from your creation is traced.
